Folklore recently collected in the area around Bandon, Co Cork, concentrated on the way of life experienced by locals in the first half of the twentieth century. Refers to cures for various ailments (especially warts and sore eyes, but also including fever, stomach ache, scurvy and rheumatism) which were traditionally provided not only by the use of different herbs but also by a number of wells, many of them regarded as holy. | |||
