Samples of flint from five British and two Continental axe factory/flint mine sites have been analysed using emission and atomic absorption spectroscopy in an attempt to discover chemical differences between sites. The data, particularly those for the concentration of Al, Mg, K and Fe, were subjected to factor and discriminant analysis. The provisional results indicate that the use of trace element data to identify the sources of flint implements may be valid. JM | |||||
