Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Excavation in advance of telephone cable-laying revealed an empty stone hole close to the Heelstone; various possible interpretations are discussed. A hypothesis is put forward that the five cavities observed by Aubrey were nothing to do with the 56 'Aubrey holes' but were stoneholes relating to the earliest use of the site. The discovery emphasizes our continuing ignorance about Stonehenge. | ||
