Abstract:
Account of an archaeological evaluation and subsequent excavation during 2004 at Stonewood Road, Erith, Kent, at the site of the naval dockyard founded in 1514 by Henry VIII; the area was also the location of quarrying operations for ballast. The evaluation and targeted excavation was focused on the narrow gauge railway which existed at the site from the 1840s to the 1930s, remains of which were uncovered.
