Report (reprinted from Archaeology Ireland 1(1), 1987) on the excavation of a ringfort comprising a mound and ditch with two souterrains, a number of middens and twenty-five circular houses built on successive summits of the mound. The mound was built up within the bank of an earlier ringfort. The high degree of preservation revealed that each house was made of wattle (some double-lined), contained a central stone-lined fireplace, and that some buildings had burned down. Details of bedding, the fill of the wall cavities, carpentry and wickerwork techniques, and the range of small finds are also given. The site was levelled for agricultural purposes by the landowner following excavation. | |||||||
