Excavations to investigate midden layers at Freswick Links are described, including details of the sampling strategy and taphonomy of the fish remains. Factors affecting bone preservation are explored. Cod and possibly saithe were the most abundantly represented species, and recovery patterns suggest the former may have been preferred for immediate consumption while the latter was associated with bulk processing for later consumption or trade (see also 93/446 & 93/552). | ||||||
