The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 A report summarising the results of salvage recording and assessing the character of the Roman settlement based on all available information. The assemblage of pottery forms recovered is indicative of the Roman economy and pottery production in the region as a whole. Finds included Domitian and Constantine I coins, as well as `Samian ware' by G Dannell (395--6), `Coarse pottery' by H Rees (396--9), `Mortaria' by K F Hartley (399--400), and other material including iron nails and objects, a sherd of vessel glass, a quernstone fragment, burnt clay, pig teeth, a flint flake (Neolithic or EBA), and oyster shell. There are appendices on `A shale vessel from Blackwardine, Herefordshire (HWCM 737)' by J D Hurst (404), and `A Byzantine coin from Blackwardine' by D L Brown (404--5).
