Abstract:
Re-examination of a ruined nineteenth-century Cornish engine house at the Williams' shaft in Tigroney (Vale of Avoca), County Wicklow (see 2000/1700; 2002/1078), revealed that its condenser assembly was uniquely located at the rear, rather than the front, of the building. Tentatively suggests why this was the case and makes a plea for the conservation and floodlighting of this monument.
