SO 255646 etc. Fieldwork over some eighteen years has totally altered the picture of a Radnorshire empty of prehistoric occupation. The collection here described was made in fields between Beggar's Bush and Pen Offa; it consists of scrapers, blades, leaf-shaped arrowheads, cores and waste. Flint does not occur naturally in the county and must have been imported. Culturally the material belongs to the Neolithic, possibly incorporating some Mesolithic traditions. The largest concentration so far found in the county comes from Rough Close, Walton, and another lies on Dorstone Hill in the next county (Herefordshire). The spread of evidence does not suggest a confinement to ridgeways; much of it lies in the better-drained fertile parts of the county. | ||||||
