Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Explains and comments on the events leading up to the dispute between the organizers of the World Archaeological Congress at Southampton and the UISPP over the exclusion of South African and Namibian participation. Contrast is drawn between the important new approaches demonstrated in 1986 at Southampton and the conventional programme organized for Mainz in 1987. The argument is put that UISPP must change its ideas and its organization if there is to be a true World Archaeology with representatives from all countries. |
