The cairn above Old Bewick (Northumb) was excavated over several seasons to reveal several phases of construction, the kerbstones being robbed to make five cists in addition to the central one. Greenwell had missed a cremation urn, jet and shale necklace, amber beads, etc. A further cremation urn and an unaccompanied cremation were also recovered, and more are expected in 1987. Video recordings will assist full reconstruction and interpretation. | ||||||||
