Excavations on the site of the medieval chapter house revealed nine structural phases from a late Anglo-Saxon cemetery through the 11th century chapter house (Paul of Caen) and the enlarged rectangular building of 12th and subsequent centuries to the post-Dissolution robbing and other disturbances. What appears to be a 12th century decorated tiled floor was also found. |
