Numerous mass-produced Gaulish import figurines found along the course of the Walbrook appear to be ex voto offerings, and suggest that the Mithraeum was not the only temple in this quarter of Roman London. "Mother goddess" and Venus figurines are the most numerous, but the catalogue also includes various other deities, animals, and thornpullers (figurine of a boy extracting a thorn from his foot). |
