Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Close serial sampling and quantitative analysis of fossils in a tufa deposit at Newlands Cross, Tallaght, Co Dublin, revealed successional patterns directly relatable to the pollen-vegetational history of the area. AMS dating provided a chronology for the more important changes. This sequence, the most detailed yet reported for Ireland, yields unequivocal evidence for Meso man's presence by early 8th millennium BP and for woodmouse as a native species. Other changes relate to forest clearance, etc. The possible existence and timing of a land bridge to Ireland is discussed. Au (abr) |
