Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
It was shown that the replica technique (by which a mould is taken of a small area of a glass vessel) could be successfully used to examine vessel surfaces by means of a scanning electron microscope. Thus it is possible to distinguish glass made in modern times from genuine ancient glass which has undergone modern mechanical cleaning. However, if chemical cleaning has been used it may not always be possible to separate the ancient and modern samples. |
