Abstract:
SP 984861. The report covers the excavation of the final period in the life of a late medieval (14th century) industrial complex including potter's workshop, associated yards, potbank and kiln. The kiln is of a type previously unrecorded, with two parallel flues leading into an oven with centre pedestal and radiating fire bars. Associated wares, all in an oxidised shell and limestone tempered fabric, included bowls, cooking pots and glazed jugs. Hand-made kiln props in a similar ware were used. Appended is a gazetteer of Iron Age to post-medieval sites known so far in the Lyveden Valley. Au
