Abstract:
The apparently non-functional sheet gold "box" from the Lannion burial cist is related in style, construction and chemical analysis to EBA Wessex ornaments such as the Bush Barrow belt hook and the Ridgeway pommel cover. Other evidence of contact between Wessex and the Armorican First Series graves is discussed: was a single peripatetic craftsman at work? [The excavation itself is described on pp 107-67 of the same volume: grave goods consisted of a sword, two axes, six daggers, a set of flint arrowheads, and the gold "box".]
