Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	In the absence of full-time professional help, excavations in the historic town centre aimed at least to recover a pottery sequence; in the event plans and sections were drawn for two sites, and in addition to eight phases of occupation evidence from early 12th century onwards, Mesolithic flints (drawn) were found. Pottery is reserved for later publication.
