Abstract:
SK 207041. During demolition of a row of shops opposite the church it was possible to record some of their architectural details and, after demolition, to excavate part of the site, revealing evidence of several phases of early medieval post-pit and post-hole buildings. The survey of the standing buildings demonstrates several phases of post-and-truss structures on stone cills which had undergone changes at various stages. Altogether ten centuries of building, from pre-Conquest to modern times, were recorded. Au(adp)
