Abstract:
Examines four streets from the district to illustrate income levels and other factors which led to people choosing it as a place of residence. Notes that the working-class districts of Brighton have been relatively little studied in comparison to the older and more affluent areas, and that several further questions could be asked about the integration of the new railway community into the economic and social life of the town.
