Four British broad-flanged strainers from Thorpe (Surrey), Coygan Cave, Marston Moor, and Helmsdale are postulated as 1st or early 2nd century products of one military workshop. The ornament uses a traditional design for drinking equipment which goes back to late 6th century Vix.
