Abstract:
Reports on an archaeological evaluation (by trial trench and magnetic survey) and subsequent detailed investigation of areas adjacent to the M25 motorway (crossed by Clacket Lane). Excavation produced a large assemblage of thirteenth- and fourteenth-century courseware, which is examined in `The medieval pottery' by Phil Jones (32--76 & microfiche). `Other finds and building materials' are discussed by Suzanne Huson (76--7 & microfiche) -- these included medieval and later coins, assorted ironwork, querns, brick/tile (some Roman) and undated lithics -- a concise `Conservation report' is provided by Adrian Tribe (77). Appendices comprise `Archaeomagnetic dating' by A J Clark (84) and `Charcoal from the southern kiln' by M Robinson (84--5).
