Abstract:
NY 559299. Re-publication of a vanished silver gilt piece found with burials in the chancel of St Ninian's Church. Originally published as from a horn, the mount more probably came from a cup like those at Sutton Hoo. Three anthropomorphic motifs with knotwork are closely paralleled in the Book of Kells and a Turin gospel book, suggesting an 8th century date; the origin could be Pictish.
