Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The archaeological evidence to date suggests that Londinium was founded in AD~50. This article discusses the possibility that a turf and timber fort at Mayfair represented the central administration for the seven years prior to the foundation of Londinium. These conclusions are drawn from the known contemporary road systems. Written from a largely historical stand point, this article has drawn an editorial comment from Clive Orton (126), who provides contemporary archaeological evidence and discussion. TJG. | ||
