Abstract:		 Report on evidence for prehistoric occupation uncovered during archaeological work at 47--67 Hopton Street, Southwark. A finds assemblage comprising substantial amounts of worked lithics and burnt flint, as well as pot sherds, bone fragments, daub and a red compound (thought to be dye) suggested a Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date, with a smaller Mesolithic to Early Neolithic component. A small pit containing a complete beaker bowl of Late Neolithic date was found in association with a flint core and blade, and linear grooves were interpreted as ard or plough marks.
