Abstract:		 [SD 5190]. Further work revealed unsuspected complexity in the late 1st century defences and of the NE gate. Refurbishment dates to later 2nd century. A timber building was erected ?in the Antonine period over backfilled minor ditches. Finds of early 3rd century were rare, but the final occupation in late 3rd century, represented in the guardchamber of the gate, was probably terminated by flooding.
