Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
1997 evaluation trenches on this floodplain site yielded typical alluvial deposits overlying gravels. The waterlogged conditions preserved wooden structural elements and organic deposits, along with palaeoenvironmental remains. The mill leat formally known as Corporation Dam was located and whilst it was clear that more than one phase of managed water channel existed, the original date remained uncertain. A wooden stake and brushwood construction may have parallels with techniques used to prevent scouring in rivers. | ||||||||
