Abstract:
The report presents an interim summary of the results of the second stage of an ongoing programme of archaeological investigations at Little Paxton Quarry, Diddington. The investigations involved the evaluation of a cropmark settlement focus located in the southwest zone of the quarry concession, followed by area excavations in advance of quarrying. Features from the Late Neolithic, mainly comprising pits or post-holes, were succeeded by two roughly circular Early Bronze Age structures. The next phase of activity dated to the Middle Iron Age, when an enclosure, well, and group of ditches were followed by two adjoining ditched enclosures; a further ditched enclosure dated to the Later Iron Age.
