Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
New finds and re-examination of older evidence indicate that these wares were in production by the latter half of 2nd century AD or even earlier. The early products did not travel far, however, and only in 3rd century did production rise sufficiently to allow export as far as Hadrian's Wall. Several Pennine sites previously dated to 3rd century may therefore have begun occupation rather earlier. Distribution maps indicate the spread of 2nd century and 3rd-4th century products respectively, and the early types are figured. | |||
