At 38-42 Watergate Street is a good survival of an early 14th century substantial merchant's house with original fabric on all three storeys. The undercroft retains massive timber trusses; great hall and screens passage, shops; later alterations eg fireplaces. Dendrodates support a 14th century origin. The house is Panton's 'Double range' type. Do others survive behind the Row frontage? | |||||||||
