A survey undertaken during low-water conditions of the river permitted the planning of the bridge and revealed several errors in the survey of 1906. The method of survey in water up to 3ft 6in deep is described. The clearest remaining features are the S abutment and the first two piers, but remains of other piers suggest a figure of 43-5ft for the distance between centres. A plan of the entire length of the bridge shows the known remains together with those conjectured. The position of the N abutment is still unknown. | ||
