[NY 9538]. Still miraculously extant, but with an uncertain future, this fifteen-piece hoard has been rediscovered in Westmorland after 150 years. The drawings of its first publication in 1816 were found to be very accurate, but permission for further study has been refused. The hoard, formerly incorrectly named from Stanhope, has many objects in common with the Heathery Burn Cave bronzes and must equally belong to LBA 2; it contains phalerae, leaf spearheads, socketed axes (one unique), a gouge and hammer. | ||
