[NY 9765] The Flavian bath-house at Red House had been assumed to belong to the earliest fort at Corbridge; but evidence found in 1973 ruled out an Agricolan foundation for Corbridge. Fieldwork to locate the Agricolan base suggested a likely site at Red House, and excavation in advance of roadworks indicated the presence of a half-legionary or vexillation fortress of ?8-9ha. A barrack block, ?store buildings, fabrica, extra-mural traces etc are planned and described, and pottery and small finds catalogued (together with Meso-Neo flintwork). | ||
