Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A small class of hand-built pottery found in the civil settlement at Housesteads, and also at Chesterholm and Birdoswald, is identifiable by its fabric and rim-forms. A floruit in 3rd century and possible span from Hadrianic times to 4th century seems possible. The ware is best paralleled in the terp settlements of Leeuwarden and Paddepoel in Friesland, suggesting that the Frisian irregular units on the Wall may have been the connecting link. | ||
