Reveals evidence for medieval occupation in the area in the form of ditches, gullies at least three buildings, and a great deal of pottery. Also records a boundary complex which may be the original enclosure surrounding the Saxon monastery, the vallum monasterium. Appendix I concerns `The pottery' by Susan Mills (79--81), which is dateable to the later medieval period. Appendix II details `The small finds' which all appear to be medieval or post-medieval, and is by Alexandra Croom (81--3). Appendix III is `A guide to the pottery series' and lists material by period from the post-Roman period to the sixteenth century. | ||
