Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
TG 518125. Examination of a large deposit, mainly rubbish with a little structural evidence, produced three distinct pottery groups: (1) soon after AD 200, mostly local wares; (2) centred on AD 285; (3) five fabrics not later than AD 390, including dark colour-coated, calcite-gritted, imitation samian, orange and "self-coloured" wares. The inclusion in this third group of 60% of non-local wares appears to reflect the post-367 centralisation of the pottery industry, with specialisation in type of vessel to fabric. | ||||||
