Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
[TF 9820]. The fifth season of work confirmed, with only minor changes, the sequence previously established. New finds include a bakehouse, followed in 8th century by a well and a cistern. During Phase II, AD 840-1000, there was a fifty-year gap in occupation followed by renewed activity. In Phase III at least six separate houses in their own enclosures included one 22ft x 47 with inset porch. Three boat-shaped houses in Phase IV, 1050-1175, may indicate a Scandinavian presence. More light has been thrown on development of building techniques. Monograph forthcoming. | |||||
