The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 A large mount of earth was erected in the mid sixteenth century as part of the defences of the town against the threat of Spanish invasions, a ramp was also constructed within the town walls. During excavation work the remains of the medieval town wall were found beneath the west end of the mount. It is suggested that the mount originally formed a ravelin, detached from the wall.
