Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Mesolithic assemblages in the Midlands contain two recurrent types. The first is a pick, ie it has a pointed terminal and was probably unhafted and fairly unspecialized in use. ('Thames pick' is a misnomer for an axe/adze, and 'Portland pick' is over-restrictive as a name.) The second tool is defined as a 'worn-edge implement', generically similar to the 'fabricator' but possibly less specialized in use; the type is probably much commoner than the literature would suggest, and it may remain in use in the Neolithic-Bronze Age. | ||
