Abstract:		 In 1974, the decision was taken to excavate a round barrow on Winton Hill, Alfriston (TQ 508 038), and to investigate a nearvy cross-ridge dyke. The excavation took place immediately after harvesting in summer 1975 as part of the programme of the Sussex Archaeological Field Unit. An average of eight volunteers were engaged in the work from August 23rd to September 12th, under the direction of the author.
