Abstract:
The 2020 issue of CWAAS Transactions included my article on the response in Carlisle to the 'papal aggression' crisis of 1850. Further research has now clarified two matters arising from the article. The first is the correct identification of a member of the aristocracy alluded to, though not named, in the debate on 'papal aggression' that took place in Carlisle on 19 November 1850. The second question is the identity of a lady referred to, but, again, not named, in the same debate, along with the significance of her identification.
