This report follows on from the one in BAJ 3, summarising the excavations in 1967-68. Further Roman and post-medieval remains were discovered, but the medieval remains of the abbey and a large Anglo-Saxon cemetery were the excavations' primary focus. The cloisters and the south ranges were explored in detail, with progress made on the other main claustral buildings, while at least 250 Anglo-Saxon skeletons were exhumed. | ||
