Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The earliest work in St Mary's Church, Bedford, it is argued, is of the so-called Saxo-Norman Overlap' period. This has been argued before on the basis of architectural features in the south transept; but features not hitherto recorded suggest a similar date for the central tower. The plan of the church lends support to this interpretation, and also indicates a subsequent slight alteration of the axis of the church. | ||
