Abstract:		 An excavation by Albion Archaeology in 2008 revealed the remains of a middle to late Iron Age open settlement north of Twinwoods Business Park, Milton Ernest. Ceramic evidence suggests that the settlement had a short lifespan. No further activity was identified until the Middle Ages, when the land was taken under ridge and furrow cultivation, and a trackway crossed the site. The first evidence of enclosure comes from the post-medieval period, with the identification of the boundary ditch that defined Mock Beggar Close, known from historical maps.
