Abstract: |
A study of prehistoric settlement and land-use in the middle Thames region of central southern England, from the Mesolithic period to the end of the Bronze Age, integrates field-walking survey evidence with that from more traditional sources. Considers the process of lithic use and discard, develops collection strategies and then establishes an appropriate chronological scheme. A smaller component of the fieldwork studied linear earthworks and `Celtic' fields which both have wide-spread implications for studies of the development of the landscape. |
