Abstract: |
The distribution of lobby-entry and hearth-passage houses in North Yorkshire are established by desk-top survey, using a variety of sources, and maps are produced to relate changes in time to socio-economic factors. The distributions are also considered in relation to soil types and it is argued that lobby--entry houses can be associated with arable farms, while hearth-passage houses correspond with livestock farms. The possible causes of this are discussed and some possibilities for future research are outlined. |
