Revision entailed the rewriting of eight chapters, the expansion of nine more and the addition of 600 new references. Part I is an introduction; Part II deals with vegetation, soils and geomorphology as environmental indicators; Part III with interpretation of Pleistocene sediments; Part IV with contributions of the biological sciences; Part V with some Pleistocene environments of the Old and New Worlds; and Part VI with man-land relationships in prehistory. There is a 75-page bibliography. |
