Abstract: |
Report on the significance of Ipswich as an Anglo-Saxon foundation and as one of the major medieval ports concerned with Continental trade. The report expresses deep concern that virtually nothing has been done, during redevelopment of a quarter of the medieval town, to recover its history by systematic archaeological investigation. Recommendations for a research programme are made. |
