Abstract: |
TL 213989 (centre). Recent excavations have shown that this large complex of settlements was occupied by 3000 BC, and continued in occupation to 3rd century AD. The foundations of a small rectangular house contained sherds of early Neolithic pottery, local and non-local flints, Great Langdale stone fragments, and a collared elliptical jet bead. Parts of two hitherto unsuspected Iron Age settlements are described and the notion of a Fengate-Cromer ceramic style zone is discarded in favour of the proposed sequence West Harling-Darmsden-Barley.
