Abstract: |
Because Roman conquest did not touch Ireland the development of its institutions and architecture differed from that of the rest of Europe. Many of the early monastic remains can still be seen in virtually their original environment; this book aims to help the visitor to a greater understanding of the function of early Irish monasteries, the economy activities and life style of their inhabitants, and the original appearance of the buildings. |
